Mainly clear weather today, possibility of light rain for subsequent 2 days in J&K: MeT

Srinagar, Sept 2 (GNS): Weather department has forecast mainly dry weather amid possibility of isolated light rain thunders over Jammu and Kashmir in next 24 hours. 

A meteorological department official here told GNS that isolated to scattered light rain and thunders were expected in subsequent two days. 

Regarding minimum temperature, the official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 17.2°C against 16.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.5°C above normal for the summer capital during this time of the year, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 15.4°C against 14.6°C on the previous night. However, the temperature was 1.7°C above normal there, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 11.8°C against 11.7°C on the previous night and it was 0.8°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort.

Kokernag recorded a low of 14.8°C against 14.2°C the previous night and it was 0.7°C above normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 10.5°C against 9.0°C on the previous night. It was 0.2°C below normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 14.8°C against 14.6°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 0.7°C above normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 26.2°C against 26.1°C on the previous night. It was 2.0°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 17.2°C, Batote 17.5°C, Katra 23.0°C and Bhadarwah 16.7°C.  (GNS)

 No end to restrictions on Mirwaiz: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid

Srinagar, Sep 02 (KNO): Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar Friday said that once again,  its head and Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house detention for the last more than three years since August 2019, was not allowed to leave his house to offer Friday prayers and hold majlis e waz at Jamia Masjid.

Anjuman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that additional forces and police have been deployed around Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen , the residence of Mirwaiz since morning.

Anjuman reminded the authorities to stand upto the statement of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha that Mirwaiz is free and can go anywhere.

Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid said that people are waiting for the LG’s statement to be executed on ground, as they are  early awaiting his release from house detention—(KNO)

*Tractor Driver died in Kokernag Road accident*

Srinagar, Sep 02 (KNA) : A Tractor driver was killed in a road accident at gawran area teshil Larnoo of Kokernag South kashmir Anantnag district on Friday 

Reports reaching Kashmir News Apex- (KNA) Said that a Tractor Skidded off the Road was fully loaded with stone’s the platform turns turtle and fell on brengi nala.

Meanwhile locals Along with police and SHO Larnoo reached the spot and launched rescue operation body was shifted to SDH kokernag for treatment however doctors declared him brought dead.

*Two held for blackmailing, extorting money from woman in Srinagar*

Srinagar, Sept 01 (KNO): Srinagar police on Thursday arrested two accused person involved in blackmailing and extorting money from a woman on pretext of circulating her obscene video captured by them.

In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that as reported by a women from Shunglipora that an obscene video of his niece was captured by two boys namely Danish Majeed and Aadil Ahmed Rather.

The statement reads that they extorted money from the victim girl from time to time on the pretext of circulating the video on social media and subsequently they shared it on WhatsApp among some persons of Shunglipora as well. 

It added that Srinagar Police swung into action and both the accused were arrested immediately.

“In this regard a case FiR No 169/2022 U/S 354 C, 509 IPC, & 66 E, 67, 67 A IT Act was registered in PS Safakadal. Further investigation is going in the case,” it reads.

Meanwhile, people asked the citizens to delete the said clip immediately if they have recieved it, and any circulation by anyone will invoke strict legal action under IT act—(KNO)
