Why Whatsapp is not working; Whatsapp server down since 1 PM
Why Whatsapp is not working: WhatsApp, the popular instant communication app owned by Meta is reportedly facing an issue. Millions of WhatsApp users across the globe are currently unable to send or receive messages. Outage detection website DownDetector confirms that WhatsApp is not working for many users across multiple regions.
WhatsApp Web also appears to be affected by the outage, and is also unable to connect to the WhatsApp servers, suggesting a server-level outage, and not one that only affects the Android and iOS apps. Anyone trying to use WhatsApp Web will be greeted to an error message like the one seen below.
Largest Outage till now
This is WhatsApp’s first major outage since the larger Meta outage on October 5, that took down WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook together, affecting millions of users over several hours before the services were back online.
What meta said?
WhatsApp’s parent company Meta has acknowledged the outage and is currently working on a fix. “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” a Meta spokesperson told indianexpress.com.
The reason is not revealed yet. The company has not revealed any reason for this outage yet. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms in the UK and around the world and is estimated to have more than 2 billion active users globally. The outage might have been caused due to load on server or maintenance activity or any bug.
