SSC CGL New Exam Pattern 2022
The Computer Based Examination will be conducted in two tiers as indicated below:
- Tier 1
- Tier 2.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2022 – Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3 – Section 1, Section 2, Section 3
The exam pattern of SSC CGL has changed. Let’s understand the new exam pattern in simple way.
CGL Tier 2 will have 3 papers. Candidates those who apply for general posts will have to appear for Paper 1 only. Paper 2 and Paper 3 are for posts that require special qualifications.
SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern Paper 1
Paper 1 will have 3 sections as given below.

- Maths – 30 Questions (Each 3 Marks)
- Reasoning – 30 Questions (Each 3 Marks)
- Time – 60 min
- Total marks – 180
#2) Section – 2
- English – 45 Questions (Each 3 Marks)
- General Awareness – 25 Questions (Each 3 Marks)

- Paper-I is compulsory for all the posts.
- Paper-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these Posts.
- Paper-III will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer..
Paper-I will include following three sections having two modules each:
Section-I
- Module-I: Mathematical Abilities
- Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.
Section-II
- Module-I: English Language and Comprehension
- Module-II: General Awareness
Section-III
- Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test
- Module-II: Data Entry Speed Test

Paper-I will be conducted in two sessions – Session –I & Session-II, on same day. Session-I will include conducting of Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. Session-II will include conducting of Module-II of Section-III. Therefore, duration of Session-I will be 2 hours and 15 minutes and duration of Session-II will be 15 minutes only.
Computer is Qualifying
- Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature. However, while shortlisting the candidates for the posts where Computer Proficiency is prescribed i.e. Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Sciences), Inspector (CGST & Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant in Department of Post, higher qualifying standardswill be set in comparison to other posts..
DEST/Typing Test Details
- Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I will include conducting of a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) for a duration of 15 minutes in Session-II on the same day.
- The “Data Entry Speed Test” (DEST) Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes. Detailed instructions regarding Skill Test will be provided by the Regional Offices of the Commission.
